After 3 short years of practicing at UW Medical Foundation, she went on to complete a Postgraduate Surgical Residency Program for PAs at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
She prides herself in being a clinical preceptor for Women’s Health at the University of Wisconsin Physician Assistant program, also teaching an OB skills lab during the clinical year. In 2021 Emelle and 7 other PAs were appointed by Governor Evers to sit on the inaugural Physician Assistant Affiliated Credentialing Board for the State of Wisconsin. In this role she helps to write laws governing practice for PAs in the state.
At the request of Tami Baldwin, Emelle submitted a statement in support of the Perinatal Workforce Act, which has been included in materials supporting the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act of 2021 that was presented to the US Senate.
The thing she is most proud of in her career is a pain protocol she developed at SSM Health that decreased narcotic use by 76% over 3 years in the post c-section population. She presented this protocol at a national conference in Oklahoma in 2019 and the protocol was later adopted nationwide across the entire SSM health system.
She has 17 years of experience as a Physician Assistant; 12 of those years practicing in OBGYN in Dane County. In this role, she spends her days serving women in all stages of life including, but not limited to, those with uterine fibroids, endometriosis, menstrual irregularities and assisting in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeries.
